Basketball Game Preview: Downtown Doral Dolphins vs. Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions

The Downtown Doral Dolphins will take on the Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Downtown Doral is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.6 points per game this season.

Back in December of 2024, Downtown Doral lost to Mater Brickell Academy on the road by a 68-54 margin.

Despite the loss, Downtown Doral saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Samuel Salas went 10 of 21 en route to 25 points and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Salas has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Castro, who posted 13 points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Downtown Doral smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 80-46, which was the final score in Immaculata-La Salle's tilt against Dade Christian on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Royal Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 535th, while the Warriors are ranked 176th).

Immaculata-La Salle has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Downtown Doral, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4.

Downtown Doral was able to grind out a solid victory over Immaculata-La Salle in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 61-52. Does Downtown Doral have another victory up their sleeve, or will Immaculata-La Salle turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
