Even though the Walnut Ridge Scots scored an imposing 61 points on Saturday, the Dunbar Wolverines still came out on top. Dunbar took their matchup against Walnut Ridge 68-61. The win made it back-to-back wins for Dunbar.
It was another big night for Eric Brewer jr, who scored 33 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimmy Hill iv, who scored 19 points along with four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Walnut Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dominique Aekins. Despite the final result, he scored 28 points along with three steals. Aekins hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Lee'Sean Saunders was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Dunbar's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Walnut Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
Dunbar's road trip will continue as they head out to face Stivers School for the Arts at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Stivers School for the Arts focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Tuesday. As for Walnut Ridge, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Independence at 7:00 p.m. Independence is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
