Things were looking good for Seacrest Country Day after they put the first points on the board last Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Community School of Naples by a score of 9-8.
Caroline Porter was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She also put up a walk, which was her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Jolie Booth was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addy Barley, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Even though they lost, Seacrest Country Day kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 21 runs the game before, Everglades City was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They came up short against Southwest Florida Christian, falling 19-1. The game marked the Gators' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Everglades City saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Demere, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Everglades City's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Seacrest Country Day, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Everglades City's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Seacrest Country Day has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Everglades City, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Seacrest Country Day keep running through batters, or will Everglades City buck the trend?
