After flying high against the Valley View Eagles last Friday, The Callisburg Wildcats came back down to earth. Callisburg was outmatched by Holliday on the road and fell 48-20. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Callisburg in their matchups with Holliday: they've now lost six in a row.
It was another big night for Grant Cox, who threw for 386 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Cox is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Jaedin Kim did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 105 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Callisburg's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 5-5. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Holliday, City View, and Bells. As for Holliday, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Callisburg will head out on the road to face off against Springtown at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
