East Sequoia recap September 17, 2013
Eduardo "Lalo" Castro of Strathmore ran for the longest rushing play in East Sequoia this season against Chavez last week. Castro's team lost to the Titans as he sprinted for 75 yards on the play and finished with 108 in all.
Woodlake moved up to 620 from 753 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tigers climbed the ranks as a result of beating Farmersville 29-28.
Lindsay's dynamic duo of Alex Jara and Gaven Mann proved to be unstoppable against Central Valley Christian, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jara threw for 268 yards and 2 touchdowns and Mann had 151 yards receiving. Angel Cortes helped Lindsay's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 103 yards.
The Cardinals' dynamic duo of Jara and Mann proved tough for the Cavaliers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Jara put up the best numbers in passing as Lindsay topped Central Valley Christian.
Gerardo Acevedo made the biggest impact on defense this week as Granite Hills fell to Orosi. The 5-foot-10 senior.
He went 21-32 with 1 interceptions.
Mann was the best receiver in the league this week as Jesse Lira's team bested Mason Hughes' team.
Johnny Gonzalez was the best running back in East Sequoia this week. In 25 carries, he ran for 162 yards as the Grizzlies beat the Cavaliers. Teammate Jose Larumbe added to the ground attack by rushing for 76 yards.
Lindsay's Jara and Mann have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Jara has thrown for 478 yards this season, while Mann has 12 catches for 255 yards. Granite Hills' Gonzalez leads the league in rushing yards with 230.
Sierra Pacific fell to Firebaugh 51-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
