The Monticello Buckaroo suffered their biggest defeat since December 6, 2023 on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Grand County, falling 72-44. Monticello has not had much luck with Grand County recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Defeat or not, Monticello got some senior leadership from Mason Atwood and Curtis Bunker. Atwood scored 14 points along with five rebounds, while Bunker. scored 19 points.
Grand County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Wyatt Toney out in front who scored ten points along with three steals. Lane Berry was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Monticello's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-10. As for Grand County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monticello will take on Monument Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Monument Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Grand County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against San Juan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Juan has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 204 points over their last three games.
