Wylie is 1-0 against Lubbock since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Wylie Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Lubbock Westerners at 4:00 p.m. Wylie is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Wylie was the victim of a tough 34-14 loss at the hands of Rider.
Despite the loss, Wylie had strong showings from Malachi Daniels, who rushed for 102 yards, and Julius Laine, who rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown. Daniels is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Lubbock's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 41-12 loss at the hands of Plainview. While losing is never fun, Lubbock can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 916th, while Plainview is ranked 369th).
The losses dropped Wylie to 4-3 and Lubbock to 2-5.
Everything came up roses for Wylie against Lubbock in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 43-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wylie since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
