Clarke County has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Thomasville Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Clarke County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Thomasville is ranked 80th).
Clarke County can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Marion as Clarke County made off with a 33-8 victory. With Clarke County ahead 26-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
It was another big night for AJ Ezell, who rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Ezell is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Henson, who rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Thomasville unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They were outmatched by Mobile Christian on the road and fell 45-14. Thomasville was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-0.
Despite the loss, Thomasville got a solid performance out of Decorian Cowan, who rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns.
Clarke County's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-4. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33 points. As for Thomasville, their loss dropped their record down to 7-1.
Clarke County suffered a grim 31-6 defeat to Thomasville in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Clarke County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
