The Dunlap Eagles will take on the LaSalle-Peru Cavaliers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Dunlap 1.9, LaSalle-Peru 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Dunlap proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 15) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Ottawa 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since May 7th.
Sutton Centoni spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 16 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addie Reed, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.
Meanwhile, LaSalle-Peru extended their postseason success on Tuesday against East Peoria. They never let the Raiders get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won three in a row.
Not much got past Taylor Vescogni, who gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep East Peoria off the board.
On the hitting side, Makenzie Chamberlain was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Dunlap's record now sits at 28-8. As for LaSalle-Peru, their record is now 23-14.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Dunlap has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like LaSalle-Peru struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Dunlap suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to LaSalle-Peru in their previous matchup on May 8th. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
