After a string of three wins, the Shoals Christian Flame's's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. The match between Shoals Christian and Lexington wasn't particularly close, with Shoals Christian falling 57-42. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Shoals Christian in their matchups with Lexington: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Shoals Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sarah Davis (2025). Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Davis (2025) scored a full 47.6% of Shoals Christian's points, the 16th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Emma Hodges, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Shoals Christian's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4. As for Lexington, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shoals Christian and Decatur Heritage Christian Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Decatur Heritage Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Shoals Christian likes a good challenge. Lexington will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Clements at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
