Ulysses is 1-9 against the Longhorns since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Ulysses Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Holcomb Longhorns at 6:30 p.m. Ulysses will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 240th, while the Longhorns are ranked 44th).
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought match, but Ulysses had to settle for a 34-32 defeat against the Beavers. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ulysses in their matchups with the Beavers: they've now lost eight in a row.
Meanwhile, Holcomb came up short against the Cowboys on Friday and fell 50-41.
Holcomb's defeat came about despite a quality game from Halle Jones, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Jones hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jera Kruleski, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Ulysses' loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Holcomb, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
Ulysses was dealt a bruising 63-29 defeat at the hands of the Longhorns in their previous meeting back in January. Can Ulysses avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
