The Mountain Ridge Miners scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They claimed a resounding 81-51 victory over Bishop Walsh at home. Given Mountain Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Spartans are ranked 303rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Will Patterson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 39 points and 6 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Moran, who scored 16 points along with four steals.
Mountain Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Bishop Walsh, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain Ridge will challenge the Sentinels at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bishop Walsh, they will head out on the road to take on the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Morgantown Christian Academy's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while the Spartans have been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
