The Bishop Moore Hornets will be playing at home against the Cocoa Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Bishop Moore lost a heartbreaker to Lake Highland Prep when they met back in January, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. Bishop Moore fell 55-47 to Lake Highland Prep. While losing is never fun, Bishop Moore can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Lake Highland Prep is ranked 19th).
Bishop Moore's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Cameron Codio, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds, and Mark Dadlani who scored 11 points. Codio scored a full 29.8% of Bishop Moore's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Duayne Dupas was another key contributor, scoring 4 points.
Meanwhile, Cocoa pushed their score all the way to 59 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eustis. Cocoa found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up 11 fewer assists than your opponent.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Dontay Williams, who scored 20 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Damien Bryant , who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 1 assists.
Their wins bumped Bishop Moore to 3-2 and Lake Highland Prep to 2-0.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's matchup: Bishop Moore have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 8.4 threes per game. However, it's not like Cocoa struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
Bishop Moore strolled past Cocoa when the teams last played back in December of 2018 by a score of 62-47. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Cocoa's Marquise Freeman, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 12 rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Bishop Moore to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
