The Line Mountain Eagles will be playing at home against the Towanda Black Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Line Mountain sitting on seven straight wins and Towanda on three.
Line Mountain stacked a fifth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 35-0 win over Upper Dauphin Area. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Line Mountain had established a 28 point advantage.
Line Mountain found their leader in underclassman Kaiden Maurer, who threw for 135 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Nolan Baumert and his 81 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Line Mountain's victory.
Meanwhile, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Towanda made off with a 15-14 victory over Wyalusing Valley.
Rylie Vanderpool continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 133 yards and two touchdowns.
Line Mountain's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 James Buchanan and 1-9 Newport (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 20% over those games). As for Towanda, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
