Softball Recap: Knoxville Catholic Wins Going Away Against First Baptist Academy

Knoxville Catholic won the last time they faced First Baptist Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Fighting Irish were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Eagles. The result was nothing new for the Fighting Irish, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Isabelle Holleman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Holleman was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Caitlin Brooks looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Hadley Troutt was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Anna Debusk, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Knoxville Catholic and bumps their season record up to 15-10. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for First Baptist Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Knoxville Catholic will venture away from home to challenge Campbell County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for First Baptist Academy, they will challenge West at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
