Sadly, the Tallwood Lions are still looking for their first win of the season after 20 games. They were beaten by Kellam 66-12 on Tuesday. Tallwood has not had much luck with Kellam recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Tallwood saw an underclassman step up: Faith Gray scored seven points.
Kellam's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mia Spain, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Spain is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Molly Spain was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Tallwood's defeat was their tenth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-20. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.0 points per game. As for Kellam, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
Tallwood will play host again and welcome Green Run, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tallwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 374th, while Green Run is ranked 65th). As for Kellam, they will head out on the road to take on Salem at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Salem is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
