The Cedar Park Christian Eagles will square off against the Monroe Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Park Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
Cedar Park Christian fell victim to Shorewood and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Stormrays by a score of 1-0. The loss was the Eagles' first of the season.
Shelby Southard put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over 7.2 innings pitched. Southard was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double.
Meanwhile, Monroe had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They blew past the Seagulls 15-3. The Bearcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by six runs or more this season.
Like Cedar Park Christian, Monroe also got a great game from a two-way player: Addy Bryant. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Bryant has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Monroe got a big performance out of Vivian Knuckey, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Knuckey has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Brittingham, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Having lost for the first time this season, Cedar Park Christian fell to 6-1. As for Monroe, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Monroe's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cedar Park Christian has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. It's a different story for Monroe, though, as they've been averaging 9.2 hits. Given Cedar Park Christian's sizable advantage in that area, the Bearcats will need to find a way to close that gap.
