Baseball Recap: Mitchell Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

While Mitchell didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Land O' Lakes Gators by a score of 5-2 on Tuesday. Five seems to be a good number for the Mustangs as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

NATE EALY looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mitchell let CARTER KOENIG and LOGAN KOSLIN run wild. KOENIG went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while KOSLIN scored a run while going 2-for-3. JACOB APONTE was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Mitchell is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 11.25 hits in those games compared to only 4.5 in the others. Land O' Lakes has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Mitchell will host Countryside at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mitchell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Land O' Lakes, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-3 defeat against Weeki Wachee on the 12th.
