Basketball Recap: Mullins Piles Up the Points Against Kingstree

A well-balanced attack led Mullins over Kingstree in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Mullins Auctioneers blew the Kingstree Blazers out of the water with a 67-28 final score. The Auctioneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 22 points or more this season.

Mullins was led to victory by Dakarai Worley and Deyon Ford. Worley dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 boards, while Ford went 8 of 19 on his way to 17 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Ford is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 20 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Ernest Ford, who posted 11 points and five steals.

Mullins smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 26 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Kingstree lost, don't look at Benjamin Washington. Despite the final result, he scored nine points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Washington a new career-high in points.

Mullins is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.5 points. As for Kingstree, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Coincidentally, Mullins and Kingstree will both be playing Atlantic Collegiate Academy the next time they take the court. Kingstree will head out to face Atlantic Collegiate Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Mullins will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on January 21st.
