The Bloomfield Bees just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Homer Knights at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Bloomfield has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Bloomfield got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They were the clear victor by a 57-34 margin over Creighton on Thursday.
Bloomfield found their leader in freshman Madyson Mlady, who dropped a double-double with 34 points and 12 boards. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Mlady has scored at least a third of Bloomfield's points. Another player making a difference was Makinna Lovell, who posted eight points.
Meanwhile, Homer entered their tilt with Bancroft-Rosalie on Tuesday with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. They skirted past the Panthers 61-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since January 7th.
Homer's win came from a few key players Bloomfield will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Alexandra Albrecht, who went 7-for-12 from beyond the arc to rack up 23 points and seven rebounds. What's more, she also posted a 62% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Janessa Overgaard was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and 16 boards.
Homer smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matchups.
Homer's victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points over those games. As for Bloomfield, their win bumped their record up to 14-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Bloomfield has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 33.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Homer struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
