Cat Alston made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, Savannah Lorenzini was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Katie Wetteland was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Del Oro hadn't beaten Whitney on the road since March 30, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 13-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Mikayla Finn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Del Oro got a massive performance out of Abby Davidson, who fired off two home runs, four RBI, and one double while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Caelyn Campos, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.
Del Oro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in seven consecutive games.
Del Oro's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Rocklin, their win bumped their record up to 13-2.
Both Rocklin and Del Oro just can't seem to miss. The Thunder have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Del Oro struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rocklin came up short against Del Oro when the teams last played back in March, falling 6-2. Will the Thunder have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
