Softball Recap: Calaveras Wins Going Away Against Summerville

Calaveras won the last time they faced Summerville and things went their way on Friday too. The Red Hawks were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Bears. The Red Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Kamryn Thornburg was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Calaveras got a massive performance out of Carlee Jasper, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave Jasper a new career-high. Emma Clark was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Calaveras was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Summerville only posted a batting average of .105.

Calaveras has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.8 runs. As for Summerville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11.
