Baseball Recap: Washburn Has No Trouble Against Bayfield

Washburn got themselves on the board against Bayfield on Thursday, but Bayfield never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 25-0 margin over the Trollers. The Castle Guards have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Trollers, too.

Brodi Anderson made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Anderson was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Washburn is 2-1 when Anderson posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Chuck Lussenhop was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in May of 2025. Noah Lussenhop was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Washburn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive games.

Washburn's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Bayfield, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coincidentally, Washburn and Bayfield will both be playing South Shore the next time they take the field. The Castle Guards will host the Cardinals at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Trollers will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
