GALVESTON, Texas - the Mavericks scored 36 points in the first quarter to secure a big 46-7 victory over Ball (Galveston, Texas) on Saturday.
Manvel scored on a touchdown pass by
Deriq King to
Reggie Hemphill, a King touchdown pass to
Gary Haynes, a touchdown pass by King to
Jacoby Perro, a
D'Vaughn Pennamon touchdown run and a touchdown run by
Austin Alexis in the quarter.
The lead that MHS took on a King touchdown pass to Hemphill with 11:00 to go in the first quarter stood up for the duration of the game, as neither team managed to score in the second half.
The Mavericks scored 36 points in the first quarter to take a 29-point lead on the way to the win.
King was the top performer for Manvel. The sophomore quarterback threw three touchdowns. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.
Ball's lone touchdown came on a 79-yard pass from Jacob Simon to Kevin Baliste in the first quarter.
MHS also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 55-0.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Mavericks, who lost to North Shore last week, 24-20.
