The biggest upset of the week belonged to Shafter, who took down 376th ranked Shafter, 52-42. Jake Thompson threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 40 yards in the win.
Wasco extended the longest winning streak in South Sequoia this week by beating Kennedy, 56-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Tigers.
Robert Keathley was the best wideout in the league this week as Bakersfield Christian defeated the Generals. Keathley tallied two receptions for 87 yards. Josh Jackson helped Bakersfield Christian's passing attack out by catching three balls for 44 yards.
Orlando Perez was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 215 yards as Arvin bested Shafter. Teammate Juan Perez added to the ground attack by rushing for 26 yards.
Taft's Vaughn Richardson and Steven Gee have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading South Sequoia in both passing and receiving yards. Richardson has thrown for 1002 yards this season, while Gee, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 33 catches for 733 yards. Bakersfield Christian's Matt Smith leads the league in rushing yards with 1013.
Wasco's Isaiah Sharp needs only 93 yards against Jerald Pierucci's team next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 47 carries Sharp has accumulated 907 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Eagles take on Russ Prado's team. Bakersfield Christian is currently in third, while the Tigers are in first.
The Eagles moved up to 323 from 407 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 52-42 win over Ricky Ishida's team helped Bakersfield Christian improve its standing.
