It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Wabash Apaches can now relate to. They fell to the Warriors 51-46. Wabash found out winning isn't easy when you make seven fewer threes than your opponent.
Wabash's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaitlynn Honeycutt, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Honeycutt pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kierra Wilson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
Leading Winamac to victory were Marissa Iverson and Maggie Smith. Iverson scored 11 points along with eight rebounds, while Smith scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Sadie Popejoy, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Wabash now has a losing record at 11-12. As for Winamac, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.
Wabash does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Winamac's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Pioneer focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Friday.
