Having just played yesterday, the Fairmont Heights Hornets will jump right back in to play the Chopticon Braves at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fairmont Heights has four straight wins, Chopticon has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Fairmont Heights wrapped up 2023 with a 71-52 win over Lackey.
Fairmont Heights can attribute much of their success to Amari Brice-Johnson, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Zion McQueen, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. The match was McQueen's fourth in a row with at least ten points. John Jones was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Chopticon had to suffer through a rough 54-27 loss at the hands of James Madison. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Chopticon has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Chopticon had strong showings from Brian McMahon, who scored nine points along with five steals, and Braylon Harrison, who scored eight points. McMahon is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season.
Fairmont Heights' win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Chopticon, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-3.
