Union Area has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Clairton Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Burgettstown scored an imposing 37 points on Friday, Union Area still came out on top. Union Area strolled past Burgettstown with points to spare, taking the game 51-37.
Meanwhile, Clairton waltzed into Friday's game with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They blew past Laurel 44-7 at home. The result was nothing new for Clairton, who have now won seven games by 28 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clairton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Drahcir Jones, who rushed for 168 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Jones really tore up the turf during one magnificent 88-yard run. Clairton also got help from Zaemere Correll who showed off his sure hands for 82 receiving yards.
Union Area has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Clairton, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2.
