Roy/Mosquero can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They blew past New Mexico School for the Deaf, posting a 50-0 victory on the road. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Roy/Mosquero just coasted through the last quarter.
Roy/Mosquero's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Brycen Barnes , who rushed for 93 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries, and Rhett Smith, who rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Barnes is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Animas faced Elida in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Animas snuck past Elida with a 43-38 win on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Kohan Evans went supernova for Animas, rushing for 152 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, and also throwing for 192 yards and two touchdowns. Evans was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards. Tallon Marble was another key contributor, picking up 79 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Roy/Mosquero's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 41.78 points. As for Animas, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Saturday's game as Roy/Mosquero and Animas haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Roy/Mosquero commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 8.1 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Animas struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Saturday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
