The Miamisburg Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Chaminade Julienne Catholic Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Miamisburg will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Miamisburg needed a bit of extra time to put away Sidney. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Yellowjackets. That's two games straight that the Vikings have won by just one run.
Jake Craiglow made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Craiglow was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
In other pitching news, Tristan Korolchuk looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Logan Walker, who went 3-for-5 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josh Williams, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.
Miamisburg hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sidney struck out 12 times.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Wednesday. Chaminade Julienne Catholic came out on top against Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy by a score of 6-1. The win continues a trend for Chaminade Julienne Catholic in their matchups with Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy: they've now won three in a row.
Ben Kolton was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Kolton was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Miamisburg's record is now 3-1. As for Chaminade Julienne Catholic, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Miamisburg has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Chaminade Julienne Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 11 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Miamisburg couldn't quite get it done against Chaminade Julienne Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
