The Horse Creek Academy Stallions are taking a road trip to face off against the North Eagles at 7:30 a.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday, Horse Creek Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Wagener-Salley, but they still walked away with a 59-54 win.
Horse Creek Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aidan Walls, who posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Kingston Hightower, who put up 15 points.
Meanwhile, North came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 75-56 victory over the Trojans.
Horse Creek Academy better keep an eye on Stetson Stacks. He was instrumental in North's win, going 8 of 15 en route to 21 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals. Stacks' evening made it 20 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaleil Way, who went 8 for 17 on his way to 17 points and five boards.
North smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.
North pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.3 points per game. As for Horse Creek Academy, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-12.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Horse Creek Academy and North are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Horse Creek Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 57.8 points per game. However, it's not like North struggles in that department as they've been averaging 70.1 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Horse Creek Academy was taken down by North 86-56 when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Stacks, who went 12 of 15 en route to 25 points along with seven steals and six assists. Now that Horse Creek Academy knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
