The Sun Valley Vanguards are taking a road trip to face off against the Chichester Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Sun Valley has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 9.
On Thursday, Sun Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Kennett and fell 9-8.
Addison Mancini was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Madison Chadwick was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Chichester came up short against Upper Darby on Friday and fell 8-4.
Valerie Wilkins was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Brooklyn Bryant made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Sun Valley's record is now 3-14. As for Chichester, their record now sits at 11-8.
Everything went Sun Valley's way against Chichester in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Sun Valley made off with a 12-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vanguards since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
