The Discovery Spartans will square off against the Eustis Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Discovery can now relate to. They took a 66-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Highlanders on Saturday. Discovery's defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, Eustis pushed their score all the way to 68 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of The Villages Charter by a score of 70-68. Eustis has not had much luck with The Villages Charter recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Anthony Hines, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Timothy Key, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Eustis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as The Villages Charter only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Discovery's record is now 20-6. Eustis' record is now 21-5.
Discovery strolled past Eustis in their previous meeting back in December of 2021 by a score of 58-44. Will Discovery repeat their success, or does Eustis have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
