The West Craven Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Nash Central Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, West Craven rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 22-12 victory over North Pitt.
West Craven's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was DJ Davis, who rushed for 48 yards and two touchdowns. Reginald Lancaster also helped out with an impressive 81 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Nash Central put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Roanoke Rapids, posting a 47-8 victory at home. Given Nash Central's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Roanoke Rapids is ranked 333rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nash Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Javaris Jones out in front who rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown.
West Craven has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Nash Central, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: West Craven has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 177.9 rushing yards per game.
