Middlesex are taking a road trip to challenge the Lawrence Academy Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Middlesex is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
Middlesex is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of Boston English by a score of 11-10 on Tuesday. Even if Middlesex couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Colt Bagnulo was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of EJ McAuliffe, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lawrence Academy was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Phillips Exeter Academy by a score of 6-5 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The game was the first time the Spartans have beaten the Lions on their field since May 14, 2018.
Lawrence Academy also got a great performance from Darius Karbassi as he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Daniel Nuti, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Jayden Campbell was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Lawrence Academy's record now sits at 4-2. As for Middlesex, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Middlesex might still be hurting after the 10-4 loss they got from Lawrence Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can Middlesex avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
