The West Craven Eagles put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They secured a 54-48 W over Farmville Central. 54 seems to be a good number for West Craven as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
West Craven's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Torvonyah Heggie led the charge by scoring 18 points. The match was Heggie's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shalawn Yates, who scored 13 points.
Farmville Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nakevia Phillips, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Phillips is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Carma Wright was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
West Craven's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Farmville Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
Coincidentally, West Craven and Farmville Central will both be playing Greene Central the next time they take the court. West Craven will host Greene Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while Farmville Central will host them at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th.
