Skyview is 8-2 against Bishop Kelly since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Hawks will host the Knights at 3:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Bishop Kelly will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Skyview extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday. The Hawks blew past Columbia 7-1.
Elijah Strong looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mason Krahn, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevan Plew, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Kelly). They put the hurt on Columbia with a sharp 23-6 victory on Thursday. With that win, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.
Jamison Lamott-Strasser was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lamott-Strasser was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.
In other pitching news, Jamison Smith looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Bishop Kelly got a massive performance out of Lucas Blaine, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That stolen base was Blaine's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cole Keck, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Bishop Kelly was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Skyview pushed their record up to 7-2-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Bishop Kelly, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-7.
Skyview came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop Kelly when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 9-7. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
