After flying high against the Dupo Tigers last Tuesday, the Sandoval Blackhawks came back down to earth. Sandoval's rough 86-60 loss to Wayne City on Friday might stick with them for a while. Sandoval was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-24.
Leading Wayne City to victory were Tanner McNeil and James Walker. McNeil went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 0 assists, while Walker scored 21 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McNeil has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Javen Loker, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Sandoval's loss dropped their record down to 9-21. As for Wayne City, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-20.
Sandoval will take on Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sandoval knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City likes a good challenge. As for Wayne City, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 71-37 defeat vs. Carmi-White County on the 10th.
