Softball Recap: Lincoln Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

While Lincoln didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Bell Eagles by a score of 6-1 on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Mel Martinez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Martinez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gladys Barajas, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Rubie Morales also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Lincoln was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .452 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Lincoln's record is now 5-2. As for Bell, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln will challenge Bravo at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Knights have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Bell, they will square off against South Gate at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
