Basketball Recap: Federal Hocking Skates Past Warren with Ease

Federal Hocking lost to Warren back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Federal Hocking Lancers claimed a resounding 68-35 win over the Warren Warriors. The Lancers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 32 points or more this season.

Abby Wells and Mackenzie James-McGuire certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Wells posted six points, while James-McGuire earned 11 points and six rebounds. James-McGuire has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sarah Pettey, who put up seven points.

The victory (which was Federal Hocking's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points per game. As for Warren, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3.

Federal Hocking and Warren should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Federal Hocking (ranked 83rd) will meet Harvest Prep (ranked 366th) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Warren (ranked 103rd) will meet Caldwell (ranked 569th) at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday.
