Softball Recap: Central Catholic Finds Playoff Glory Versus Johnson

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Central Catholic had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They never let the Johnson Warriors get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 matches by six runs or more this season.

Stephanie Garcia looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Central Catholic let Madie Harrison and Samantha Nichols run wild. Harrison went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Nichols went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Jazmarie Roberts was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Central Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .654. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March.

Central Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Johnson, they moved to 16-4 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Central Catholic nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
