After flying high against the Ashe County Huskies last Tuesday, the North Surry Greyhounds came back down to earth. The match between North Surry and West Stokes wasn't particularly close, with North Surry falling 64-45. North Surry was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as West Stokes apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.
North Surry's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Fisher Leftwich, who scored 16 points. The matchup was Leftwich's third in a row with at least ten points. Julius Brintle was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with 6 rebounds.
North Surry's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for West Stokes, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Surry will challenge Reagan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Reagan's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for West Stokes, they will head out on the road to face off against East Surry at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
