The Van Horn Eagles waltzed into Thursday's matchup with four straight wins but they left with five. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Fort Davis 65-8 at home. With Van Horn ahead 41-3 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Van Horn got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was David Baeza out in front who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Joey Anchondo, who scored 11 points along with 3 steals.
Van Horn is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Fort Davis, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Van Horn won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Tornillo at 8:00 p.m. on December 8th. Tornillo is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Fort Davis, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Iraan at 7:30 p.m. Iraan's defense has only allowed 30 points per game this season, so Fort Davis' offense will have their work cut out for Fort Davis.
