The biggest upset of the week belonged to Santa Fe, who took down 399th ranked El Rancho, 44-43. Christian Lara threw for 175 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 137 yards in the win.
California extended the longest winning streak in Del Rio this week by beating Pioneer, 35-17. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Brandon Takata was the best wideout in the league this week as the Chiefs topped the Dons. Takata tallied three receptions for 68 yards. Justin Retiz helped Santa Fe's passing attack out by catching one ball for 66 yards.
JOE SANCHEZ was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 141 yards on 35 carries as El Rancho bested El Rancho. JOHNNY GARCIA also contributed to the rushing game with 106 yards on the ground.
El Rancho's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Dons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. SANCHEZ has thrown for 1155 yards and six touchdowns this season, while JAVIER CARILLO has 32 catches for 437 yards. SANCHEZ also leads the league in rushing with 951 yards.
Vinnie Lopez's team's SANCHEZ is a mere 49 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Dons take on the Lancers. El Rancho's offense has racked up 264 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while La Serna has allowed only 108 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when California takes on David Pierson's team. As it stands, Jim Arnold's team is in first, while the Chiefs are in third.
There should be lots of points scored when the Dons and Margarito Beltran's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, El Rancho comes in having scored 264 this season, while the Lancers have scored 259. The Dons scored 43 points last week as they fell to Santa Fe.
The Chiefs moved up to 302 from 561 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Santa Fe was able to make the jump by topping El Rancho 44-43.
