Central recap October 1, 2013
Ridley scaled the state rankings by moving to 132 from 209 this week, the biggest jump in Central. The Raiders climbed the ranks as a result of besting Lower Merion 47-12.
Garnet Valley was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Marple Newtown. The Jaguars came in at 20 in the state poll after placing at number 34 last week.
The Fightin' Tigers' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tommy Davis threw for 69 yards and Abel Hoff had 69 yards receiving. On the ground Brian Rosborough contributed 63 yards.
Marple Newtown's dynamic duo of Davis and Hoff proved to be unstoppable against Garnet Valley, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Rosborough provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Ray Gionta's team fell to Mike Ricci's team. Rosborough's favorite target this week was Hoff, who caught 2 passes for 69 yards.
Adrian Sapnas made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Fightin' Tigers fell to the Jaguars. The 5-foot-11 junior.
Upper Darby's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Royals feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. CHRIS ROSSITER has thrown for 518 yards and 5 touchdowns this season, while DEANDRE PENDERGRASS has 8 catches for 260 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Penncrest takes on second place Garnet Valley.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Penncrest beat Springfield 19-6. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Lions.
