Maple Mountain and Wasatch are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Golden Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wasps at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Maple Mountain is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Orem, who was ranked 19th at the time (Maple Mountain was ranked third). The Golden Eagles blew past the Tigers 12-1 on Saturday. The win was familiar territory for the Golden Eagles, who have now won six matches in a row.
Jeremiah Hall made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Cy Chrisman was incredible, firing off three home runs, six RBI, and one stolen base while going 4-for-4. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. AJ Thomas was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Maple Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Wasatch came out on top against Timpview on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run seventh inning. The Wasps put the hurt on the Thunderbirds with a sharp 12-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wasps in their matchups with the Thunderbirds: they've now won seven in a row.
Max Livingston spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Micah Dahl, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. He also scored a run, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Austin Brown, who went 3-for-4 with three runs.
Maple Mountain's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Wasatch, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Maple Mountain has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. However, it's not like Wasatch struggles in that department as they've averaged .474. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Maple Mountain's way against Wasatch when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Maple Mountain made off with a 13-2 win. Do the Golden Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wasps turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
