Meryl Jones was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Jones was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Saint Mary's Hall got a massive performance out of Torrey Baker, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave Baker a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Thienpont, who went 3-for-5 with three runs and one triple.
Saint Mary's Hall kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Anthony only managed nine hits.
Meanwhile, San Antonio Christian has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.3 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. Everything went their way against Poteet as San Antonio Christian made off with a 21-11 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lions considering their one-run performance the contest before.
The team relied heavily on Taytum Robert, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Anjie Meza, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Saint Mary's Hall pushed their record up to 8-4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for San Antonio Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Saint Mary's Hall hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .437. However, it's not like San Antonio Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .365. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
