Dixie is 9-1 against Cedar since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Flyers will host the Reds at 7:00 p.m. This will be Dixie's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
Dixie is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Salem Hills, who was ranked 15th at the time (Dixie was ranked 18th). The Flyers fell 8-3 to the Skyhawks last Saturday. It was the first time this season that the Flyers let down their fans at home.
Weston Gilmore made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Cedar came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Falcons get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. With that win, the Reds brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Karson Duncan made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Duncan was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Gavin Mackert was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Cedar is 2-1 when Mackert posts one or more home runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Grady Leeder, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Cedar kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Dixie's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Cedar, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
Everything went Dixie's way against Cedar in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Dixie made off with a 14-1 win. Will the Flyers repeat their success, or do the Reds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
