The Odessa Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Almira-Coulee-Hartline Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Odessa will be strutting in after a win while Almira-Coulee-Hartline will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, Odessa faced Mary Walker in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Odessa blew past Mary Walker, posting a 52-22 win on the road. The result was nothing new for Odessa, who have now won five games by 30 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Almira-Coulee-Hartline's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 50-30 walloping at the hands of Wilbur-Creston-Keller.
Despite their defeat, Almira-Coulee-Hartline saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Carter Pitts, who rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all. Pitts is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Max Grindy also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
The victory makes it two in a row for Odessa and bumps their season record up to 5-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-6 Mary Walker and 1-6 Inchelium. As for Almira-Coulee-Hartline, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
Everything came up roses for Odessa against Almira-Coulee-Hartline in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 56-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Odessa since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
