The Calhoun Red Devils will square off against the Richwood Lumberjacks at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are out to turn their luck around after having lost tight contests in their previous games.
Calhoun made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Tyler, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Red Devils fell just short of the Knights by a score of 10-8 on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Red Devils in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost four in a row.

Landon Church was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Calhoun is 6-3 when Church posts two or more runs, but 5-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Phillips, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, Richwood was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They fell just short of Greater Beckley Christian by a score of 3-1.
Richwood saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaden Lane, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Lane is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
Calhoun's loss dropped their record down to 11-16. As for Richwood, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Calhoun has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Richwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Calhoun took their win against Richwood when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 21-5 score. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Lumberjacks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
